  Very poor experience. Given the wrong vehicle initially (lower class), had to walk across parking lot and then back to the counter to rectify. Car I finally got was fairly beaten up with a lot of scratches and dents. Returned on time, but was charged a return time 2 hours after I actually returned (with associated fee). Staff at the counter and over email/phone support were all very unresponsive and unhelpful. Never again.

  Very easy pick up process and drop off and everything well documented and exactly as booked ( 3 months in advance ) .
  Toyota Fortuner for a week was excellent .

  Staff were friendly and helpful on collection and drop-off. Pricing was reasonable but would benefit from having milage limitations clearly detailed upon booking.
  
  Another improvement would be for additional singage for drop off locations. Whilst there is an existing sign, the employer told us to ignore it as it was wrong. Its still confusing though.

  When collecting the already booked car got told about the extra charges that occur for every km the you drive over 100 per day. This was not clear online anywhere when booking. It is things like this that made me go with a different car hire company a week later.
  
  I have given 3 stars because the collecting and dropping off the car was good. Car was clean and in good condition.

  Have used Thrifty now on numerous occasions in many locations and have received 5 star service each and every time.
  The cars are always in good condition and
  Well presented.
  Every time my expectations are exceeded.
  From booking to pick up to drop off is so easy.
  I now don't even compare the opposition as the price difference isn't worth the risk of inferior service. Well done thrifty.
  Darwin Airport branch and their city branch rate 10 out 10 in my book

  Hired a small Corolla for my parents back at Christmas, easy and hassle free. The car wasn’t in perfect condition when we picked it up, a few scrapes around it but that didn’t matter. Staff were friendly and the car was clean inside. (Note- I dealt with Thrifty city branch not airport, couldn’t review the city one) I’ll be back again.

  Friendly service.
  
  Bit of a walk to the car but that is the same for all hire car providers at this airport.
  
  They do have a key return at the car park so that saves you time and effort when returning the vehicle.
  
  Used this service a number of times and have never had an issue.
  
  Cars are always cleaned to a high standard and drive well. As expected from Thrifty.

  I will never use them again. Thrifty "accidently" recorded mileage incorrectly and I had the bulk of my deposit kept by Thrifty for payment of the extra kilometres. I had to prove beyond any doubt they had made a mistake before they would accept their error.I was still waiting to be reimbursed and on the third time I contacted them about the promised reimbursement. If I had not checked my credit card account I would never have known that I had been charged for the "accidentally" recorded kilometres as I was never invoiced or informed in any way about extra kilometres. Be very wary of these people at the Darwin Airport Thrifty desk, somethings not right.

  Have always used thrifty rentals everywhere we travel in Aus as they don't try/pressure to sell extra insurance. Great experience with the staff in this location, very friendly, great customer service.

  The guys at the airport were amazing and helpful, they only problem was the car had a massive shudder when driven so we then had to go to the city to swap over with 2 tired kids..
  I feel that anyone that had driven the car would have known it was not safe.

  They gave us a better vehicle than they had to give us (through racv) but 100 free km limit per day is ridiculous up here, I drive that to my hotel and back. The deductible for damages is high aswell unless you get an expensive extra insurance.

  All was good in the end but we were overcharged nearly a $1,000 when they read the speedo incorrectly and took 6 emails and 3 weeks before was refunded to my credit card. Actual car hire was very good but the overcharging soured the experience.
